We built these tools to give you an honest comparison, not a guess — so every benchmark figure is drawn from published Australian research rather than made up for effect.
Our savings comparison uses median savings-by-age figures from Mozo's Australian
savings research, which draws on ABS and HILDA survey data. We use medians rather than averages, because a small number of very high balances can skew an average upward — median gives a more honest picture of where a typical Australian actually sits.
Our pocket money comparison uses average weekly pocket money by age from
Commonwealth Bank's parent survey on pocket money.
Our budgeting tool is built around the 50/30/20 budgeting principle, a framework
also used by Moneysmart, the Australian Government's independent financial guidance service.
Our net worth projector applies 2025–26 Australian income tax rates, the Medicare
levy, and current superannuation guarantee and contributions tax settings, consistent with rates published by the ATO and Moneysmart.
These tools are general and educational — they're a starting point for your own
thinking, not personal financial advice. For advice specific to your situation, speak with a licensed financial adviser.
